The law That Affect Technology In India

The technology in India is mostly driven by various act such as:-

  • Information technology act, 2000.
  • The Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019.
  • The Aadhar Act 2016.
  • The Geospatial regulation bill, 2016

1. The Information Technology Act 2000:-

This law was enacted in 2000 for the purpose of looking after the technology in India. This act is working towards facilitating the electronic transactions such as:-

  • E-governance transactions.
  • All online transactions.
  • Recording of digital signature, electronic records, Electronic signatures.
  • Penalties for cybercrime, cyberstalking, cyberterrorism, hacking and so on.
  • Punishments for cybercrime, cyberstalking, cyberterrorism, hacking and so on.
  • Regulates the type of content to be available on online platforms.
  • Accessibility of content which is not suitable for under age people.

After this act a proper tribunal has been established for seeing        through all the matters related to information technology which is known as Cyber appellate tribunal which has been used as a platform for providing justices in such matters.

Although this is further dissolved with the coming of the national company law tribunal in the year 2017 and currently all the matters related are being heard by NCLAT.

2. The personal data protection bill, 2019:-

This bill was enacted in the year 2019 in the Lok Sabha for the purpose of protecting the privacy of all the users by regulating the collection of data, storage of data, transfer of data and personal information of the user. 

This act has established a Data protection authority for looking after such transactions.

Although this bill has been exempted for the government authority and its agencies.

3. The Aadhaar act 2016:-

We know about what is aadhar and its unique Identification which is of 12 digits. This act helps government agencies using aadhar for creating beneficiaries for various welfare programmes and also to derive the data of the person through aadhar information.

This act helps in biometrics and keeping a record of all the citizens.

By coming out of this act it is important in our country to get each and every bank account and other information linked with Aadhar so that the government has a record of all the information with them.

4. The geospatial Information regulation bill 2016:-

This bill came into existence in the year 2016 in order to regulate the acquisition, publication, dissemination and distribution of geospatial information in our country. 

As per this bill a license is required to be authorized by the government of India for acquiring, obtaining geospatial information.

This act regulates all the things related to the information and technology related to geospatial.

Therefore, these are few laws important to understand by each and every individual.
